Customs seize alcohol hidden in truck

Customs officers have seized wines and spirits hidden in a consignment of toilet paper, clothes and wine glasses imported from Italy.

The discovery was made after the officers searched a small truck which had arrived from Sicily. The truck was driven by an Italian.

The truck's declared cargo was toilet and tissue paper, clothes and wine glasses. The officers, however, found 708 bottles of whisky, vodka and gin.

The truck was also seized by the officers.

Customs officers last week found wines and spirits hidden in a consignment consisting mostly of mushrooms.
