The clearance of the site occupied by caravans in Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq was completed yesterday.

Last week the government gave caravan owners 48 hours to remove their belongings, saying they had no right to occupy the public land there. The clearance operation started on Friday morning and was coordinated by the Government Property Division, the Malta Environment and Planning Authority, the Public Works Department, Enemalta, the Water Services Corporation and the police. The caravans that continued to occupy public land in Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq have been confiscated and taken to a designated area. Owners will have to pay a fine in order to retrieve them.
