I think the EU Immigration Pact, to be applied on a strictly voluntary basis, solves precious little where these islands are concerned.
They get further flooded with desperate immigrants arriving constantly. Only a trickle get repatriated. The new MLP leader and Joseph Muscat put forward some very valid arguments on the subject.
In my view, this country, albeit minuscule, should have stood its ground, until a firm commitment - obligatory burden sharing - was forthcoming and flatly refused to sign up. It is still in time to do so.
Parading along the corridors of power in Brussels exhibiting a deep inferiority complex is not what is required.
Joseph Muscat is increasingly leaving a good impression on many. I am not a Labourite.
