Muscat discusses oil prices in Libya
Opposition and Labour leader Joseph Muscat has had meetings in Tripoli with the Libyan Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Suleiman el Shahoumi and the Speaker of the General People’s Congress, Muftah Khaiba. The talks focused on energy and international oil prices, the MLP said.
Dr Muscat went to Libya this morning at the invitation of the Libyan government.
He is accompanied by MLP International Secretary Alex Sceberras Trigona and Keith Schembri, who chairs an MLP working group on energy.

It was either a quick holiday riding camels or else he came back empty handed with nothing to report back. It seems that Dr Muscat is not capable of giving us a positive taste of whats to come when he is in government.....if at all.

And on this:
He asked members to come forward with suggestions in case the government refused to sit down and discuss possible solutions with MCSED members. One member pointed out that the MHRA is a strong pressure group and that it was time to act.
However, many members called out for a comprehensive public relations campaign clearly explaining to the public the effects of the new tariffs on the hotel industry.
“It seems the government is using public opinion against us – people don’t seem to understand how these tariffs affect us and there is a general mentality that they are paying extra taxes to pay for our capping,” said another member.

Chew on this:
The Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association yesterday informed the government that it will not accept the proposed utility tariffs, which if implemented, will lead to a loss of jobs in the hotel industry.During an extraordinary general meeting held yesterday, MHRA president Kevin DeCesare told concerned members that that association will not accept the tariffs that were unexpectedly presented to the members of the Malta Council for Social and Economic Development (MCSED). “We were led to believe that the capping system will remain in place due to the importance of maintaining our competitiveness and employment levels,” said Mr DeCesare. He lashed out at the government for dropping the proposed tariffs on the council unexpectedly without any form of consultation.

I really don't quite understand the PN apologists. When Joseph Muscat says or criticises something, they all what is his alternative or what he will do. Well this is a fact. Invited to Libya to discuss the price of oil and maybe, not official, illegal immigration. I know you won't be satisfied with any answer, because you're look for some sort of resolution to an enigma or riddle that's really in your minds.

There is nothing to lose from this visit. After all the prime minister everywhere he goes,he comes without anything concrete. So might as well that Joseph should start building his contacts because most probably he will be our next PM

Why are accusing Mr Muscat of not tackling the immigration issue? I thought Gonzipn is the prime minister over here. Why doesn’t he go to talk to the Libyans regarding the illegal immigration? Typical comments from nationalists!

Dear Bloggers,
How come you expect sooooo much from someone who is opposition and then you come with 101 excuses with the ones who should be working night and day to dig us out of economic sh.thole, which, after all, is of their making.
Let's grow up folks, and call a spade a spade when needs be. If we do not take action now, and I mean NOW, most middle-class families will go bankrupt.

You see guys that's why he went there, to get help for our nation from the opposition. I do not think like some do, that there is a hidden agenda, come on.
So when E.F.A went there, under the tent with Gaddafi why did he go there?? let us grow up as a nation and not always think the negative in everything, if we pull together we can make it, there is a bright future ahead of us let us put everything aside, and think for sons and daughters, and not let politics divide us,yes we may not agree in the way we do things, but we have one aim, MALTA, this little island with all of our defects , so what, at least we try.

Of course, they discussed about oil prices.
But what about the real hot issues? Have they also talked about the problem of illegal immigration? I guess no.
Please prove me that I'm wrong!

I don't see why the Opposition and Labour leader Dr Joseph Muscat has had discussed the oil prices in Libya. The used-to-be-time has gone now - "Intom fil-Gvern, u ahna (tal-Labour) naghmlu li rridu". It is the government 's side who should deal with the parliamentary affairs/talks and not Dr Muscat who is only serving these five coming years on the Opposition benches. Maybe someone will enlighten me!

What a waste of time! Does anything ever happen or change after any foreign official has returned from a meeting in Libya? If the Libyans can take G8 or EU representatives for a ride, how much notice would they take of little us!
He might as well have gone to a meeting in Disneyland!
