Finance Minister Tonio Fenech and Education Minister Dolores Cristina are to have a meeting with the unions representing University lecturers later this week, informed sources said.
The government, the MUT and the University Academic Staff Association are currently deadlocked over pay demands made by the unions, which the government has rejected.

@ Ms. M. Bugeja
If so the case will require, then yeah, they have every right to strike. These people are entitled to that increase in pay. It is a well-known fact that their current wage is ridiculous. I, as a student, support the lecturers entirely. They need to get what they deserve! I started my lecturers last Thursday, and never at any point did I regret siding by their side. On the contrary, I only convinced myself even more on how amazing our lecturers and professors are.
Do not worry.... you will be notified should they decide to strike, over a very justifiable case of course.

The same thing as happened in MCAST will be happening now. We need a holistic approach of this thing.
