Charged over horse dung
Since January five persons have been arraigned in court for not having cleaned up dung left behind by their horses, Justice Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici said.
He was answering a parliamentary question by Chris Agius (MLP), who asked if the regulations concerning dog excreta also applied to horses. Dr Mifsud Bonnici said they did not.

And who is controlling - let alone cleaning - the chemicals and wastes from fish farms - polluting our bays?

@ Mr Hoare - I agree with everything you say except one thing:
dogs should not, must not be confiscated from their 'masters' for one simple reason: like that, you will be punishing the dog, not the owner. Don't you know how heart-breaking it is for a dog to be separated from his adoptive human family?
So, let's put everything in perspective and think what repercussions we are putting on our four-legged friends in our zeal to put things right.
It is our duty to protect AND DEFEND vulnerable creatures - humans and other animals!

@ G. Hoare. Get real poopie bag's for horses, or confiscation of the horse. With your name you must be from the U.K.. Dependant on you age, can you remember the time a road was called a "horse road", people used to follow the horse for the DUNG. Not sure but last time I looked at the highway code (uk) horses were allowed to use the highways and drivers had to be aware of the fact. No mention of DUNG.

Is it being effective ??-- just look round the streets of Valletta all filled with horse dung and residents have to endure the stink.!!!!!! Action Please

Dear Mr. Hoare,
Keep in mind that if you take whatever you find outside to a police station and it remains uncollected for a long period is becomes your property.
You may wish to take this approach in the future.

MY belief is that if these people don't clean after their dogs, horses, because they are disgusting and they should be find on spot, were I live I have to put up with people coming around with their horses but especially with dogs and do the business there and if I ask them to collect it they quickly get abusive , they know they are in the wrong , maybe if these people are approached with a spot on fine or confiscate the dog they might not do it any more , Woof Woof it stinks out here.
