Rebecca Buhagiar (September 17) complained about her failure to take the test to enroll for a diploma in facilitating inclusive education course at the University of Malta due to short notice.
One sympathises with Ms Buhagiar. One also sympathises with the applicants who were unsuccessful in the examination. Is this another form of numerus clausus?
Is the University Ombudsman aware that applicants sat for the test without being asked for any means of identity? Could another person sit for the examination in place of another when identity is not verified? I am informed that applicants with facilitating experience failed in the aptitude test.
Should the University Ombudsman investigate why applicants were not required to provide means of identification?
I am sure the University administration still has the names and addresses of all applicants and the names and addresses of the invigilators.
