The heading chosen by the Sunday Times implies that the Cercle Vassalli is based in Malta and visited Paris for the occasion. In fact, the Cercle Vassalli is based in Paris and is made up mostly of French persons of Maltese origin.
I would add that there are many more French-Maltese activities and connections than people in Malta think, but they never seem to make it to the media in Malta. There is of course nothing new in this despite the fact that the links and ties between Malta and France stretch back over the centuries. One only needs to follow programmes such as those prepared by Mr Charles Xuereb on CampusFM to realise the extent of these ties.
