GWU general secretary Tony Zarb promised this morning that the union would continue to work on important issues including immigrant workers, flexicurity, equality, minorities, data protection and female participation.

Speaking during a ceremony to celebrate the union’s 65th anniversary near the Workers’ Monument in Msida, Mr Zarb said that although the challenges of 65 years ago had been overcome, there now existed new ones and it was still relevant for workers to join a union.

The union, he said, would continue working to be the union of all the family and would, in future, announce schemes to help members improve their quality of life
