I honestly feel for these people that are born geographically unlucky and want to better their lives! I really can only try to imagine how it must feel to live in such conditions and on top of that lose the only few personal possessions. Really pity........

There is a limit to everything. Commitments cannot force us to do the impossible, as Harry said. How far can this tent city go and expand? It is out of this fact that such 'solutions' are mentioned, and not out of ignorance.

Ignorance is in the minds of foreign decision makers who cannot understand Malta's realities. But for these it does not matter, for they do not live the problem, and is excusable. Such ignorance is not excusable when it comes from Maltese.

Malta cannot fulfill its obligations for how long this problem takes.

Soldiers? why should soldiers be suspected of foul play? come on please do not in any way point fingers on the same people who save these people!

There could have been a leak in the stove and not the gas cylinder.

Your outburst displays lack of information regarding the commitments of Malta. I feel it is the authorities' fault that there is such ignorance and so many naive "solutions" aired by every Tom, Dick and Harry who happens to have a keyboard within reach.

I don't believe this story. Gas Cylinders do not just blow up.

Probably there is no foul play done by the soldiers. But if done by foreigners obviously it will not be published in name of political correctness

Yes, it is deplorable that these people are having to live in tents especially with winter coming soon. This is precisely why the government must not accept any more immigrants and advise the EU that Malta CANNOT and WILL NOT take in further arrivals. They must be taken to another EU country or turned back to Libya after being given food, water and fuel at sea. We are not doing them any favours by continuing to bring them in to live like this...

Why Enemalta has a lot of explaining to do? Lets say gas cylinders were faulty, what are the chances of two faulty cylinders exploding at the same time? I think very little.

I would say that someone did something with the gas cylinders, even by mistake take made the exploded.

One thing that I cant understand is that how come you have an explosion from two gas cylinders and no one was hurt in a public area??? And how come only 5 tents were bunt? 2 gas tanks can do much more damage.

If no foul play is suspected, Enemalta has a lot of explaining to do. Gas cylinders aren't supposed to just blow up.

another blow for the immigrants who are living in these below-standards of appropriate human accomodation...I'm not saying that we can do anything else given the number of them and how small we are but it's still a deplorable situation which can hardly be revelled in..these are fellow human beings after all
