So many choices

Recently so much ado was made about the rights of all parties to spread their message.

Now that I have raised my family in the traditional Maltese way, do I need to sift through all the alternatives that I could have had, had the media in my time been allowed to spread everybody's do-good messages like:

Catholics should marry one wife while Muslims could make us believe that four would be better, and others would tell us that I could never donate blood to my own children.

My wife or wives could choose to keep the baby or abort it after we used normal human intimacy, deposit our concoctions in test tubes or even in sheep to save wombs from being occupied.

My parents and I were monogamous, but I could have listened to, and accepted, the opinions of those who favour polygamous behaviour, within or outside religions or the law, so many variations of sexual behaviour to choose from. And I hear that I could have kept my marriage, divorced, separated, annulled my marriage or cohabited freely and now, in my ripe old age, I could have cosmetic surgery, cruise the Mediterranean, go to St Vincent De Paul Residence, or ask for legal euthanasia, or just go fishing at Kalkara as I did when I was a little boy, with a free unadulterated mind.

Prof. Pule' seems to confuse the right of each to voice their opinion with an imaginary duty to listen to every opinion in the world (which would be an impossible task). He also gives the impression that he is content with his view of things simply because that is what he has traditionally been taught. He also gives the impression that the right to free speech means that every opinion is equally valid. He also gives the impression that listening to other opinions and beliefs would mean instant conversion.

We are in the European Union now Profs! That is why we have visits from the diversity truck from time to time and there is the campaign against discrimination and diversity in all beliefs. We are all different everyone should be treated equally, whatever their racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation. When are the Maltese going to learn!?! A free unadulterated mind has certainly served the writer to find truth much better than the fads, options and choices offered by the contrasting - and contradictory - voices that abound in this world.
