Emirates Open Day for cabin crew recruitment

Emirates' multinational cabin crew representing broad regions across the globe.

Emirates is holding an Open Day for cabin crew recruitment on Saturday at the Inter Continental Malta, St Julian's at 9 a.m.

The information session will include a presentation by two Emirates recruitment officers, followed by interviews. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend further assessments, which will be held between Sunday and October 14.

Candidates must be 21 years or over at the time of joining (they can be 20 at the time of application). The basic requirements are an education up to Matriculation level and fluency in written and spoken English. The ability to communicate in other languages and previous experience in customer service and hospitality are considered added advantages.

Interested candidates will meet the recruitment team and present their CVs together with a full length and passport-size photograph in business attire. Alternatively, candidates can complete the application form online and attach their photos at www.emiratesgroupcareers.com from now.

Paul Fleri Soler, Emirates manager in Malta and Cyprus, said: "For the third time this year, the airline's recruitment team is seeking Maltese cabin crew members. Our Open Day consistently attracts a good turnout of young men and women, ranging from graduates and high school certificate holders to experienced individuals."

"Given Malta's strength as a tourist destination in the Mediterranean region and focus on the travel, tourism and hospitality industry, the visiting recruitment officers find a high number of quality service oriented individuals, with an excellent command of English and the drive to perform in a dynamic, multicultural working environment," Mr Fleri Soler said.

Emirates offers an attractive tax-free package, furnished air-conditioned accommodation and 30 days annual leave. Other benefits include first-class medical care, transport to and from work, airline flight benefits and end of service gratuity on completion of a three-year renewable contract. Successful candidates will be located in Dubai.

Emirates employs 124 Maltese, mostly based in Dubai. Website: www.emiratesgroupcareers.com.

Well, I was there. I can say the process is very long. On the first day we were screened and the reruiters called us on phone. Afterwards, on Sunday, we had to go through 3 processes, one involved height check and personality traits, other involved an english language test and another one involved a sort of psychological test. After doing all these tests and IF you are successful you can attend an interview. If you manage to attend an interview and fail... then you have to wait one year to apply again. I found this recruitment scheme to be very serious, but it took too much time and it is very stressful. It is not nice seeing the people turn their back towards you, to leave the premisses because they have "failed"...
