The annual Samsung Rennie Tonna tournament for teams, organised by the Vittoriosa Lawn Tennis Club (VLTC), came to a close recently.

This tournament attracted the participation of 126 players. They were drawn in six teams and the tournament captains were Reno Bezzina, Clint Cassar, Carmen Difesa, Jacqueline Vanhear, Vince Vassallo and Joe Vella.

The final brought to an end 12 weeks of play where teams played each other over two rounds with the top four advancing to the knock-out stage.

In the first semi-final, Difesa's team emerged clear winners over Vanhear's side 11-3, while the second semi-final saw Cassar's outfit edge the side captained by Vella.

Cassar's team went on to win the tournament for the first time, defeating Difesa's formation with a 9-5 scoreline.
