Not all three individuals standing trial over attempted murder charges were given a suspended jail term, as erroneously reported yesterday in the item entitled Three Cleared Of Attempted Murder.
Anthony Zahra and his wife Louise Zahra, together with Mrs Zahra's uncle, George Gatt were found guilty of taking part in a fight during which Stephen Sultana was seriously injured.
Mr Justice Joseph Galea Debono, after considering the criminal records of the accused, sentenced Mr Gatt to three months imprisonment and jailed Mr Zahra for two months.
Mrs Zahra was given a two-month jail term suspended for four years in view of her rather clean conduct sheet and the fact that she was in an advanced state of pregnancy.
The court also ordered them to pay court expenses equally between them.
The error is regretted.
