A patrol boat of the Armed Forces of Malta is towing a French yacht to Malta after it requested help this morning when it lost electrical power and steering.

The sailing yacht La Foraine was 26 nautical miles off Grand Harbour when it made its call for assistance.

An AB 212 helicopter of the Italian Military Mission confirmed its position. The crew of three Frenchmen and an American said they had lost electrical power and steering and had no water.

The tow was initiated by patrol boat P-52, with P-32 taking over later.

They are expected to arrive at about 8.30 p.m.
