Mepa rejects Attard development applications

Mepa yesterday refused two development planning applications at Ta' Fġieni, Attard.

The Malta Planning and Environment Authority board yesterday rejected two development planning applications at Ta' Fġieni in Attard.

The applications proposed the development of semi-basement garages and residential units over three floors and additional penthouses in Triq Lorenzo Manchè.

Last August, following the scheduling of Villa Bologna, its gardens and boundary walls as a grade one property, Mepa had declared this area as a scheduled buffer zone in a move to further conserve the Villa Bologna complex.

The buffer zone, which extends beyond the two sites in question and includes both Triq Lorenzo Manchè and Triq l-Għenba, now only allows restricted development for buildings not exceeding two floors from street level.

Mepa also approved an outline development application for the construction of a micro-enterprise park along It-Telgħa t'Alla w Ommu, limits of Naxxar. The park is one of six SME parks identified by the authority as part of the SME subject plan approved in July 2004.
