I can hear the bells ringing. We have finally got the St Paul's Bay mayor to reply to our complaints. But, unfortunately, as a true politician, she has evaded the real issue.

In her letter of September 20 she confirmed that the council puts up a lot of signs in their endeavour to keep the locality as clean as is humanly possible. One of these signs states that dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and that any fouling is to be cleaned by the owner.

The real issue is, however, why has the council permitted an individual to put the words "Pets are not allowed" on one of these signs?

In addition, contrary to what the mayor wrote in her letter, the said sign is not in the garden in question but in a public area.

Can the mayor indicate any other village, town, state or country that permits such freakish type of signs?

May I also add that her attitude is contributing to bringing the whole council to ridicule.

I hate to admit this, but I was one of the many disgruntled constituents who voted her to power.
