New director takes up the reins at Dar tal-Providenza
Fr Martin Micallef, a 40-year-old priest from Luqa, has taken over as director of Dar tal-Providenza, the home for the disabled near Siggiewi.
He tells Rosanne Zammit (see video above) about his plans for the home and the challenges that it faces.
Fr Martin, a priest for the past 12 years, served at Ibraġ and as parish priest in Għaxaq and Marsascala.
He has been the church’s representative on the National Commission for Persons with a Disability for the past seven years.
His predecessor, Mgr Lawrence Gatt, is now serving as chancellor at the Curia.

Let's talk about human and civil rights not about caring for the sick and disabled
Let's stop talking about the ethos of Dar tal-Provvidenza as being the Church's mission on earth and instead talk about the dignity of the person
Fr Martin you are up to the job...go for it!
