A poor soul in need of assistance
Paul Pulis' recent letter Home Made Refugee In Valletta was spot-on.
The rich go to work by car. That is why they cannot see this poor soul being ridiculed and laughed at from Floriana to Valletta, as I do. Well, this is Malta.
I have an idea. Would it not be better if we took her out on a boat and then transferred her to the incoming refugees, so she would land in Malta? She would be better off for sure and would get all the benefits others get. It's worth a try, I think.

@ Mr Anthony Borg - I don't think that we should vent our passions - whether they are racist, xenophobic, political or personal - on vulnerable people. This lady is certainly vulnerable and it therefore behoves us to treat her without resorting to 'mock'-ing and sarcasm.
I tend to respond to sarcasm with sarcasm.
As regards plight of this lady and that of immigrants, I think that one must be sensible - and again, not allow ones' personal sentiments to get the better of him! If one is going to downplay the plight of immigrants, then, I think that one must be either completely cuckoo, or else has completely lost his soul.

Albert Mockridge was contrasting this person's plight with that of illegal immigrants, not mocking her. Mr Farrugia, that has nothing to do with neither being unchristian nor uncharitable – nor playing with a person’s surname.

@Franco Farrugia. I agree with your comment entirely. I think it is a disgrace for anyone to make light of this lady's hardship. Whether you drive by the lady or walk by her you are still passing her by. Has anyone actually stopped and spoken to her and asked her if she would like some assistance?

She wouldn't be of any political benefit nobody as are homeless in this & other countries as well after all if you come to think about it. No! refugees take the whole pie, the rest had their chance and blew it .. or so they would say.

Mr. Mockridge, that is a brilliant idea.
You have however overlooked one fundamental point. This poor soul is not African.
