Gonzi discusses MEPA reform with employees

Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi has started a series of meetings with the employees of the Malta Environment and Planning Authority as part of the MEPA reform process.

He met the staff of the Office of the Chairman and the environment section at a closed meeting this morning.

In an introduction Dr Gonzi underlined the importance of the reform process for greater efficiency and transparency at MEPA and better law enforcement. He said the pendulum needed to swing towards protection of the environment, and development had to be sustainable.

Officials said the meetings were closed in order to enable the employees to feel free to make their suggestions.
