Polish FA suspended: The management board of the Polish Football Association, which is responsible for co-hosting the European Championship in 2012, was suspended by Poland's sports ministry yesterday. The national news agency PAP said the decision was taken after the FA failed to take adequate steps to address corruption issues. Neither the sports minister's office nor the Polish Olympic Committee could be reached for confirmation or comment.

Brienza praised: The referee in charge on Sunday's Serie A match between Palermo and Reggina has praised Reggina forward Franco Brienza for stopping when clean through on goal because of an injury. "I have had the fortune of witnessing a marvellous gesture," official Stefano Farina, who did not whistle, told reporters after former Palermo player Brienza halted following a clash of heads between team mate Bernardo Corradi and Palermo defender Federico Balzaretti. Palermo won the match 1-0.

Betting probe: The European Sports Security Association (ESSA) are investigating irregular betting patterns during the Bulgarian league match between Botev Plovdiv and Belasitsa Petrich on Saturday. Bulgarian media quoted ESSA spokesman David Pittel as saying that heavy and unusual betting was noticed during the game played behind closed doors after Botev were punished for a racist incident among their supporters. Botev, who led 3-0 at halftime, went onto win 5-0.

Rame: Girondins Bordeaux goalkeeper and captain Ulrich Rame is doubtful for tomorrow's Champions League Group A game at home to Roma after sustaining a groin injury in a 1-1 Ligue 1 draw with St Etienne on Sunday. "We'll see if he can play but it doesn't look too good," Bordeaux coach Laurent Blanc told reporters.

Serie B: Frosinone vs Ancona 1-0; Brescia vs Parma 0-0.

Cycling: Italian Riccardo Ricco, who admitted he took the blood-booster EPO before this year's Tour de France, could face a 20-month ban after being charged by Italy's anti-doping body yesterday. The Italian Olympic Committee said a 20-month ban was being sought by the anti-doping prosecutor and that a tribunal would make the final decision.

Tennis: Former world number one Amelie Mauresmo has decided to part company with coach Loic Courteau. Courteau had been Mauresmo's coach for six years, helping her reach the number one spot in 2004 and win the Australian Open and Wimbledon titles in 2006. Mauresmo has dropped to 25th in the WTA rankings following a string of injury woes.
