Nepalese cyclist Pushkar Shah, who is cycling around the world on a "mission of peace" is in Malta on a three day stop.

He told Rosanne Zammit that he has already cycled across 130 countries and will visit another 19 before concluding his 11-year trip next year.

He said he wants people who see him riding his bike to think about what they can contribute to world peace.

Pushkar, 40, is a former school teacher and participated in the Democracy Movement in Nepal.

“I began my journey with only 100 Nepalese Rupees (€1) given to me by my mother. I have no official sponsor and have thus far been able to pursue my dream through the kindness and generosity of the many strangers who have befriended me along the way.”

And it does nnot stop there. In 2010 he intends to climb Mount Everest carrying the national flags of all the 150 countries he would have visited.
