Shot fired in Ta'Qali hold-up

Three hooded men made off with cash in a hold-up on employees of the Malta Football Association outside the stadium at Ta'Qali shortly before noon.

The police said the three employees were in a car which was blocked by a van carrying three armed and hooded men. Two men emerged and demanded cash from the employees.

A shot was fired, injuring no one.

The thieves escaped in their van.

Magistrate Michael Mallia is holding an inquiry.

The police found the van a short time afterwards.

Informed sources said the haul does not exceed €20,000 in cash and cheques.
