After last year's entertainment from the sandy beach in Birżebbuġa, this year we were regaled with yet another spectacle as the MLP.

They wrongly laid wreaths at the foot of the Independence Monument at a time when the President and the Prime Minister of Malta together with many distinguished guests were part of the congregation at St John's Co-Cathedral.

Apparently the MLP leader and the Opposition Leader are unaware of the clear protocol that in such official ceremonies the Head of State and the Prime Minister take precedence in the laying of wreaths and flowers.

As Sherlock Holmes used to say "Elementary my dear Watson, elementary." But not for some.
