Spain's Jorge Lorenzo upstaged his Yamaha team-mate and championship leader Valentino Rossi by qualifying fastest for the Japanese GP yesterday. Lorenzo claimed his fourth pole of the season with a blistering time of 1:45.54, 0.29 quicker than Casey Stoner, the defending champion. Nicky Hayden was third fastest with Rossi, who can clinch the title with a podium finish today, in fourth place.
