9 a.m. The President attends Mass marking the opening of the forensic year, organised by the Chamber of Advocates at the oratory of St John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta.

10 a.m. Mrs Fenech Adami attends Mass celebrated by Archbishop Paul Cremona at Christ the King parish church, Paola, organised by Caritas Malta marking World Day of the Elderly.

10.30 a.m. The President attends the opening of the forensic year ceremony at the law courts, Valletta.

7 p.m. The President presides over the oath-taking ceremony of Joseph Muscat as Leader of the Opposition at the Palace, Valletta.

7 p.m. The President inaugurates an exhibition Anima-The Soul Within by Antonio Mifsud at the Inquisitor's Palace, Vittoriosa.

9 a.m. The President receives Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi at the Palace, Valletta.

10 a.m. Mrs Fenech Adami presides over a Malta Community Chest Fund working committee at the Palace, Valletta.

11 a.m. The President receives former Polish President Lech Walesa, at the Palace, Valletta.

8 p.m. The President and Mrs Fenech Adami attend a reception marking the 65th anniversary of the General Workers' Union at the Pisces Ballroom, Le Meridien, St Julian's.

10.30 a.m. The President opens an exhibition L'Italiano in Piazza by Maltese artists at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura, Valletta.

7 p.m. The President inaugurates an exhibition by Johannes Doerflinger and Prof. Hans Joahim von Buedingen at Sinclaire Stevenson Gallery, Għarb.
