SOS Malta has launched the SOS Malta Award for Volunteering to recognise the important work carried out by those who volunteer with not-for-profit organisations, charities and NGOs.
The award scheme has been set up in affiliation with the French Federation of Voluntary Work and Associative Life, who are the organisers of the European Trophy for Voluntary Work, under the patronage of Dame Lilian Miceli Farrugia, a name long synonymous in Malta with voluntary work.
Members of the public are being asked to nominate individuals they believe to be deserving of the award. These should be sent by post to SOS Malta, 9, Camilleri Court, Testaferrata Street, Ta' Xbiex, XBX 1407. Deadline for submissions is October 15.
A cast bronze trophy, designed by young artist Damian Darmanin, will be presented to the winner. The recipient of the award will be selected by an independent board and not by SOS Malta, and will be invited to attend a grand European final held at the European Parliament in Strasbourg in December, on the occasion of International Volunteer Day.
