Interview: Muscat in between Parliaments

Labour leader Joseph Muscat expects the Labour Party to have an uphill battle in the European Parliament elections next year, not least because the party will be in the midst of an internal reform which he has refused to postpone. Speaking in an interview with Ivan Camilleri, Dr Muscat said he believes the government will have an eye on those elections when it drafts the forthcoming budget.

In the interview Dr Muscat also discusses the lessons he learnt in the European Parliament, his view now on the MLP's opposition to EU membership and the challenges facing the country. Excerpts (in Maltese) of the interview can be seen on video above. The full text is published today in The Sunday Times.

Dr Muscat resigned from the European Parliament last week and is due to be co-opted in the Maltese House of Representatives on Wednesday. He will also be sworn in as Leader of the Opposition.
