Cabin cruiser sinks

An AFM patrol boat this morning rescued the only person on board a cabin cruiser which sank just off Marsaxlokk.

The incident happened shortly after 8.30 a.m. Informed sources said the cabin cruiser Domana sent a distress signal, reporting it was taking in water when it was 1.5 nautical miles off Marsaxlokk.

The cabin cruiser sank quickly, and the owner, who was the only person on board, was rescued by the recue launch Melita 1 and taken to Haywharf Maritime Squadron base.
