Unsolicited advertising scam

We referred to this issue on September 14 and 21 and we must continue referring to it to inform consumers and traders that this is a scam. On September 14 we reported the case of Mario Casingena who received a booklet entitled Maria Omm il-Maltin together with a €50 bill for an advert he never ordered.

On September 21 we featured a letter from Maryrose Mallia sent on behalf of William Vella, managing director of Transpak Overseas Removals Ltd. I am informed that there are other traders who also received copies of these booklets containing adverts and a bill for the advert which they never ordered.

This is a very serious matter indeed which must be dealt with accordingly. Basically, people are receiving religious booklets which they never asked for. What makes it worse is that we don't know who is sending these booklets, which have a religious picture on the front cover and a commercial advert on the back cover. Throughout the booklets there are articles on religious issues.
