Spain striker Fernando Torres recovered his scoring form with two goals in three minutes as Liverpool beat Everton 2-0 in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on Saturday.

The victory briefly put Liverpool on top of the Premier League with 14 points from six matches, but Chelsea moved ahead on goal difference after winning 2-0 at Stoke City later in the afternoon with goals from Jose Bosingwa and Nicolas Anelka.

Arsenal, who met Hull City at the Emirates Stadium in a late kickoff , missed a chance to go back on top when they lost the first league meeting between the clubs for 93 years.
