Gozo hospital ward suffering 'acute' shortage of nurses
The Female General Ward at Gozo Hospital is in a 'precarious state' and the Minister for Gozo needs to intervene to tackle matters, the Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses said today.
It said it had received a substantial number of complaints about a shortage of nurses and supporting staff . This shortage was having a negative impact on the standard of care.
The union pointed out that this ward received patients with different conditions which needed medical, surgical or orthopedic care as well as day cases, all of which required specific attention.
It said the management had tried to solve the problem but could not deploy other nurses because of a shortage throughout the hospital, hence the need for ministerial intervention.

Don't these union people have anything to do with their time! What childish pathetic attitude. reminds me of kindergarten playground toddlers telling on their friends. Isn;t it enough that they have been accommodated with allowances that are so high as to exceed 3 or even more equivalent government posts.
First the Boffa hospital strike attempt, then the riduculous fuss on the mouse now this. Sure we all know how stress Gozo General Hospital employees are ......

Due to this recent shortage of nurses in the gozo hospital I see that there must be only ONE immediate solution to this problem. Bring the gozitan nurses who are working at Mater Dei to Gozo. I know that it is very frustrating for the gozitans to have to wake up so early in the morning to catch the ferry and to travel to Mater Dei. It also makes these nurses spend less time with their families so surely the MUMN can find this a reasonable solution.
