A matter of life and suffering

Ippermettili Nitlaq is the name of a new controversial play by Alfred Buttigieg that will be produced under the direction of Immanuel Mifsud at St James Cavalier on two consecutive weekends on October 3, 4, 5 and 10, 11 and 12 at 8 p.m.

The play is about a young couple who become parents of a baby who is born with a rare health condition.

Several operations will be needed for the baby to survive and if the operations were successful the child would not be able to live a normal and independent life. The female surgeon urges the parents to give their consent for the operation but the nurse who was caring for the baby insists that the operations would only condemn the child to a life of suffering.

Taking part in the play are Monica Attard, Sharon Bezzina, Angele Galea, Malcolm Galea, Joe Cortis, Stefan Cachia Zammit, Liliana Portelli and Mikhail Basmadjian.

Tickets at €15 (students and elderly persons €12) can be obtained from St James Cavalier or online on boxoffice@sjcav.org or by phoning 2122 3200. Booking is now open.
