I am writing in praise of artist Norbert Attard's inspiring installation of 50 photographs depicting our different physiognomies on entering our capital.

This is the very sort of thing I long to see more and more of in this country, art beyond the gallery, especially in Valletta, ideally not just on special occasions.

However, I noticed that in this country, be us dealing with classic contemporary art or the more radical conceptual art as is the case here, we seem to have, more often than not, got stuck with this obsession of tackling the usual subject of mingling with culture/s and heritage, thereby giving many the impression that art boils down to just that.

The subject can be much more vast and exciting. Back on a positive note again, what I liked a lot about Mr Attard's exhibition is the fact that he chose to tackle the Maltese people as a subject matter rather than Malta itself as we have long become accustomed to. This change is good.
