The Malta Labour Party yesterday joined the Senglea local council and the Local Councils Association in condemning an act of vandalism which targeted Senglea councillor Charmaine Gerada's residence as well as that of her parents.
The vandalism, which took place on Tuesday night, left the façades and front doors of both Ms Gerada's and her parents' residences covered in blue paint.
The two houses are in Triq il-Ponta.
Ms Gerada, who works in the Office of the Prime Minister, said that she had no issue that she knew of with anyone.
While the Senglea local council urged the authorities to take all the necessary steps to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice, the President of the Local Councils Association Michael Cohen expressed solidarity with Ms Gerada and her family.
Ms Cohen added that the association appreciated her work and efforts which she dedicated to the local council on a voluntary basis.
Labour spokesman Stefan Buontempo condemned without reservations those who carried out such an act, referring both to the vandalism suffered by Ms Gerarda and, recently, the vandalism suffered by Vittoriosa mayor John Boxall, whose vehicle was a target earlier this month.
The MLP, Dr Buontempo said, expressed its appreciation of every councillor who contribute voluntarily in their respective locality.
