Casa urges Muscat to take EP system to Maltese Parliament
Nationalist MEP David Casa, speaking in the European Parliament, wished the best of luck to Labour leader Joseph Muscat and urged him to work for Malta to adopt the way the European Parliament does politics.
Dr Muscat is to resign from the European Parliament later today and is due to be sworn in as MP and leader of the opposition in Malta next week.
Mr Casa said that once it was possible for Dr Muscat to be transformed from a Eurosceptic to a Europhile then it was also possible for his party to do so.
Mr Casa was speaking at the European Parliament plenary session in Brussels which discussed Dr Muscat’s report on a proposal for a Council directive on the common system of value added tax as regards the treatment of insurance and financial services.
Mr Casa said that this report was important since it reflected the need of regularisation of the system that governed VAT on financial services, not least because the current legislation was more than 30 years old.
Mr Casa commented positively on the fact that the rapporteur took into consideration both the needs of businesses as well as those of consumers.

Can't understand why certain people are so touchy about Mr Casa's comments . . . isn't Dr Muscat's new-found pro-EU stance a good thing, or are there people who still don't want membership?

It seems that four year in the European Parliament have taught Mr Casa practically nothing. He is still as partisan as a village pump politician. How pathetic

Mr. Tonna, how familiar are you with European politics? Have you considered the notion that politicians coming from a small state like Malta (all working for the interests of a common people) might actually sometimes genuinly support one another's initiatives?

Well done Mr. Casa. Finally he has admitted that Joseph Muscat alone proved better than all Nationalists MEP's.

I followed the debate of Mr Muscat on live streaming at home and I was astonished watching Mr Casa so keen to comment on the Muscat report!!!!!
I had the impression that Mr Casa had no idea of what the content of the Muscat report was, being so technical, and knowing the limits of Mr Casa!
But worse than that, Mr Casa´s comments on Mr Muscat were ridiculous! I felt ashamed listening to Mr Casa indirectly trying to insult Mr Muscat by his sarcastic comments!
