Alcoholic beverages seized

Customs officers seized 151 boxes containing bottles of whisky, gin, rum and vodka at the sea passenger terminal in Grand Harbour on Tuesday night.

The items, which were found on a truck that had just arrived from Sicily, were not in line with excise duty regulations.

The owner went to make a formal declaration of the goods only when Customs officers were on their way to inspect his truck, sources said.
