Schembri, Micallef best players for 2007/08

Dirk Schembri, of BUPA Luxol, and Kirsten Micallef, the Hibs Medsea player, have just been named players of the year for season 2007/08 by the Malta Basketball Association (MBA).

The announcements were made during a reception to mark the gold medal won by the women's national team in Luxembourg during the FIBA Europe Promotion Cup last season.

Present for the occasion were top MBA officials and club delegates, players and Parliamentary Secretary for Sports Clyde Puli who presented the trophies to the winners in the various categories.

The winners

Men: Dirk Schembri (Luxol).

Women: Kirsten Micallef (Hibs Medsea).

Division Two: Clayton Agius (SN Suns).

Young Men: Jean Paul Bonnici (Siġġiewi).

Young Women: Sarah Pace (Depiro).

Junior Men: Tom Paris (Luxol).

Junior Women: Steffi De Martino (Luxol).
