More Fourplay to stimulate plenty of laughs

The Maltese are not usually ones to poke fun at themselves but four actors and four directors have come together to push the buttons with the comedy More Fourplay at the Manoel Theatre.

Following the success of Fourplay three years ago, MADC is back with plenty more fun, satire and humour spread over two weekends, starting on October 10.

More Fourplay promises a potpourri of comedy and musical sketches, spiced up with a generous helping of British humour and wit, Maltese styled teatrin, a topping of in-your-face slapstick and audience participation thrown in for good measure.

Nothing is sacred, as good fun is poked at people's pet loves and hates, including hilarious interpretations of some of Malta's Eurovision Song Contest entries.

MADC has lined up a formidable team of four of the island's leading actors from Alan Montanaro, to Isabel Warrington, Louiselle Vassallo and Alan Paris, who promise entertainment for everyone over 18.

Most of the sketches are original, with a couple of British classics that have been dusted down and adapted by Mr Montanaro, James Calvert, Nanette Brimmer and Malcolm Galea.

The sketches are being directed by Herman Grech, Denise Mulholland, Wesley Ellul and James Borg, while Jes Sciberras is handling choreography and Paul Abela is the musical director.

The first edition of Fourplay had packed houses in 2005, with extra shows added to accommodate the demand. It is the brain child of Mr Montanaro, who believes in the old adage that "laughter is the best medicine" and he came up with a theatrical prescription that works.
