DAR, a migrants' return project coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in conjunction with SOS Malta and Med-Europe of Italy, is managing to get an increasing number of irregular migrants interested in returning to their home countries, the ministry said this afternoon.

A Ghanaian left earlier this week, whilst tomorrow will see the departure of a further six adult Ghanaians and a child as well as a Nigerian mational. Later this week and early next week should see the departure of one Ethiopian and two Ghanaians. Their return is being facilitated by the assisted voluntary return scheme, which is funded by the European Commission.

The ministry said that Foreign Minister Tonio Borg, who is currently attending the United Nations General Assembly raised the issue of irregular migration with several counterpart ministers.
