Over the weekend, Marsa CC played two games against returning touring team Ladymead CC.
On Saturday, the Marsa batsmen put on an amazing display after winning the toss.
Five batsmen batted and the lowest score was Joy Ghoseroy's 20 runs. Nowell Khosla, the previous week's centurion, was well on his way to another high score before he was run out in an unfortunate manner. He had made 40 runs.
Chris Naudi batted well and scored 57, including seven 4s, and Andy Lenard was 50 runs not out.
Lenard's 50th run came off the last ball of the innings, he scored three 4s and a 6.
Andy Naudi was the centurion last weekend, scoring 102 runs as Marsa, aided with seven extras, totalled an impressive 276 from the allotted 40 overs.
In reply, Ladymead were well in the run chase with Will Gooda and Craven at the crease. Gooda scored 73 before being stumped by keeper John Grima. Craven was on 52 when he was caught out.
Once the Marsa bowlers took these two wickets the pressure was on the visitors to make quick runs which ended up in cheap wickets for the locals.
Ladymead were all out for 161. Lenard capped his fine day with three wickets.
On Sunday, Marsa won the toss again and this time decided to bowl first in a 35-over game.
Ladymead totalled 138 with Gooda top-scoring with 42 runs.
Peny was 28 not out and McDonald 21. For Marsa, the main wicket-takers were Nadeem Ashraf and Sarfraz Ali with two wickets each.
Marsa reached their run target in the 26th over but lost six wickets in the process following some great bowling by Mackay who took four wickets. Javed Shah top-scored for Marsa with 44 and Andy Naudi made 30.
Marsa won the series 2-0.
Next weekend, Marsa take on new touring team, brought over by Globalair, Wiseton CC in another two-game series.
The nursery activities will be held between 9.30 and 11.30 a.m.
