Road to Armier badly patched up
I do not know who was responsible for the "patching up" of the straight road leading to Armier Bay. In my opinion whoever was in charge has not done a good job of it.
The hundreds of "patches" are not level with the surface of the road. In fact, it is one complete sleeping policeman from top to bottom and if one exceeds 10 or 15 miles per hour, one is in for big trouble in terms of the vehicle's suspension. Other "patching" in the vicinity up to L-Aħrax tal-Mellieħa is in the same state.
As taxpayers, we deserve better supervision when such works are in progress.

As long as contractors are paid for poor workmanship, this situation will persist.
There can only be two reasons for this state of affairs. Either gross imcompetence on the part of whoever is responsible for effecting payment or else there is corruption involved.
No wonder that the website for the Ministry of Urban Development and Roads www.maltaroads.eu is down and displays the message
"Website of Ministry for Urban Development & Roads will not be available until further notice.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
The .com version however is still up.

I have brought up the Armier road problem before but as usual to no avail. All they did was put a bandaid on the roadsurface and that surface will wash away after the first good rain. The Armier road needs to be redone from start to finish, this roadsurface is over 60 years old and you can see that by the wear and tear. It needs more than a patch. Maybe the next time the G8 comes to Malta they should hold the meeting at Armier and that way maybe the government will take the initiative to redo the road like they did the way to Ghajn Tuffieha... That seemed to have worked pretty good... Maybe there aren't that many votes coming out of Armier but I think enough people visit the place to warrant a new surface and by the way when is the St Paul Bypass going to be refinished so it becomes a 2 lane road southbound like it was meant to be.

What a pity the roads are in the state they are in. Mr Attard refers to Armier, the south is not any better. During my visit to Malta a few weeks ago I could not believe how bad the roads were.
I understand that it is impossible to fix all the roads, but surely the bus routes must be a priority. The Maltese (as well as the tourists visiting the island) deserve a comfortable ride when using the public transport. Is that too much to ask??

But didn't you read that there was going to be a programme to fix certain streets. Yes on the programme there were three alleys? Alleys and so many main roads are a disgrace. But as long as these alleys or remote streets are done that is OK. As long as we built the Mtarfa road that is Ok. But how many people use the Mtarfa Road? I know we wanted to have a good network from south to north but I still beleive our priorities are wrong. And so many Maltese and tourists use this Mtarfa, oops sorry, Armier Road.!!!!

50% of the problems with the bad state of our road surfaces are caused by the poor standards of workmanship when resurfacing repairs are conducted. They are either left too proud or the sides of the repairs are not bonded properly with the original surface. This eventually cause them to split and cause dis-levels to the actual surfaces.
One can blame the contractor, but in my books I blame the person who is reponsible for authorising payment, as he / she are authorising bad workmanship!
but then I forgot, a Christmas Cheer hamper goes a long way...

I agree with Mr.Attard on the bad patching of Armier Road. Unfortunately, this is not the only example. My appeal goes to those authorities whose responsability is to see that road maintenance is carried out properly. Motorists contribute millions of Euros monthly and surely deserve better roads.

I don't think it's only the road mention....when dug up roads are never ereturned to the state there were before....this goes to ne roads that received a coat of tarmac.
As regards other roads one could easily notice where these roads have been dug up.......
What about the road from Turkish cemetry to St.Vincent De Paul......when is this road going to be given a proper surface......
