Obituary
ABELA. On September 21, at St Vincent de Paul Residence, ALFRED, of Floriana, widower of Giovanna, aged 96, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his daughter Theresa and her husband Joseph Azzopardi, her grandchildren Gilbert and his wife Nadianne, Lara and her husband Bernard, Antonella and her husband Anthony, and Bertram, great-grandchildren Andrea, Amy and Thomas, his in-laws Josephine Camilleri, Doris Frendo, Bernardette Saccasan, Noel and his wife Joan Mallia, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul Residence today at 8.30 a.m. for St Publius parish church, Floriana, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Lord grant him eternal rest.
BUTTIGIEG. On Friday, September 19, at Mater Dei Hospital, Mary née Scerri, of Msida, widow of William, aged 84, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her only son Eugene and his wife Marica, her grandchildren Marie Claire, Elise and Aiden William, her brother Joseph and his wife Eilnee, her sisters Lydia and Irene and Dolores, widow of her brother John Albert, her aunt Gaetana Lodge, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2 p.m. for St Joseph parish church, Msida, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at Lija cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Sta Scolastica Monastery, Vittoriosa and St Clare's Monastery, St Julians, will be greatly appreciated. The family would like to thank the Franciscan Sisters of Pax et Bonum Home, Mosta, for their dedicated care. You passed away so quickly, but your warm smile and caring look will remain forever a treasured memory. Lord grant her eternal rest.

Good Practice Awards
The Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA) is inviting nominations for the annual Good Practice Awards in occupational health and safety.
In line with the European theme, the awards this year will focus on risk assessments.
The awards aim to demonstrate, by example, to all employers and workers the benefits of conducting risk assessments and promoting healthy work places to safeguard the occupational health and safety of workers.
The awards will provide those selected with national recognition for their role in improving working conditions in Malta.
The nominations will be adjudicated by a panel of independent judges and the winners will be announced in a ceremony held by the Occupational Health and Safety Authority.
The closing date for submissions is being extended to October 31.
