Forthcoming activities

• The Sixth International Conference on Anglo-Italian Literary and Cultural relations is being convened tomorrow and on Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. by Prof. Peter Vassallo and Prof. Gloria Lauri-Lucente at the Aula Magna of the Old University Building in Valletta.

During the conference, eminent scholars mainly from Britain and Italy will deliver papers on the influence of Italy on British literature and culture.

• The Chaplaincy is organising a Freshers Meeting on Tuesday at 6.30 p.m. at the University Chapel. The meeting offers freshers the opportunity to meet second and third year students from their faculty who can help freshers settle in easier.

• The European Documentation and Research Centre (EDRC) with the support of the European Commission, is organising the fourth Civil Society project conference entitled 'The Fight Against Poverty' at the Marie Louise Suite, Radisson SAS, St Julian's on Wednesday.

This conference is of interest to all those concerned about poverty in Malta, the Mediterranean, Europe and the world - its causes, its impact on our security and the values and mechanisms required to address the dialogue of eliminating it.

The conference will look to the future, using as a starting point the findings of a 300-page EDRC report produced last year written by a number of experts from academia and NGOs.
