€1.3 million are being invested in the building of 37 residential roads in 10 localities in Malta, a project that is expected to start in the coming days, the Infrastructure Ministry said.

The programme incorporates 4,250 metres of new roads and an area of 40,700 metres square. The roads are in Birkirkara, Fgura, Xgħajra, Mellieħa, Mosta, Mġarr, Mtarfa, Rabat, Żabbar and Żurrieq.

The ministry said the roads will be built according to a directive on road completion it issued in April. According to this directive, the quality of the work has to be examined by an independent laboratory to ensure that quality parameters are reached before the contractors are paid.

This investment, the ministry said, will improve the property value, lead to an improvement in the urban environment and give residents a better quality of life.

The following are the roads to be built:

Birkirkara :- p/o is-Sisla, p/o Ġużeppi Xuereb, Ġanni Attard, n/s in Triq Ġanni Attard and Girgor Gatt.

Fgura :- wáter culvert in Triq is-Sur.

Xgħajra:- ix-Xilep, il-Grottli, Sqaq Qaċċawiet, Sqaq Grawnd, Dwardu Ellul, il-Fortizza and tal-Grazzja

Mellieħa:- iż-Żebbuġ, Daħlet id-Dalji, ir-Rundun, is-Sardinell and il-Bufula

Mosta :- Tarmac in Triq il-Ħtajriet

Mġarr:- Tarmac in Triq Skorba, Saqwi and Imqades and pavement building in Triq Fisher

Rabat: il-Qlejgħa

Mtarfa:- p/o l-Imtarfa, Palma and Ġ Galea

Żabbar:- Pawlu Sciberras, Ħadd in-Nies, n/s in Triq Ħadd in-Nies and l-Istellarju

Żurrieq:- tal-Bebbux, ta’ Ċiantar, Żakkarija Roncalli, Fortunat Dalli, is-Sardinell and Can. Vinċenz Balzan.
