Labour environment spokesman Leo Brincat yesterday criticised the government for relocating the Malta Environment and Planning Authority's Environmental Protection Division (EPD) to Marsa.

Mr Brincat said such a move meant that workers, who are supposed to be protecting the environment, would suffer from the persistent problem of air pollution in the area. Mepa's EPD was relocated to Hexagon House, a building formerly occupied by HSBC in Marsa, where air pollution has been a big problem for years.

In July, a Health and Safety Risk Assessment Report was carried out on the area and delivered to the Health and Safety representatives of Mepa.
