As part of its work programme covering the conservation, maintenance and protection of local heritage sites, Victoria council recently upgraded the security of the Banca Giuratale by installing six CCTV cameras which constantly monitor all activity around its perimeter.

The council, mayor Robert Tabone said, has submitted an application under the Archimed programme to receive financial and technical assistance for the recording and protection of various historical sites in Victoria.

The project also outlines ways and means of promoting these sites to the public.

A definitive answer regarding the application would be officially communicated to the council by next month.

Italy, Greece and Cyprus have also applied for this project.
