A co-operation agreement was recently signed between the Malta Red Cross (Gozo branch) and the European Association of EMTs and Paramedics(Italian branch).

Marco Fillippi, EMTs president, said the Gozo branch had achieved international standards in pre-hospital emergency care.

He said the agreement would serve as a road map for the further development of paramedic training in Malta, setting up of technical exchange programmes, and assisting the branch in developing a "train the trainer" programme.

The Malta Red Cross is now authorised to write "recognised by the EAEMTP", along with EAEMTP on certificates issued by the Malta Red Cross when the course met the required standards.
