Alexander Tranter has been elected chairman of the International Association of Homes and Services for the Ageing (IAHSA). Mr Tranter is chief executive officer of Care Malta, which operates care homes for the elderly.
Mr Tranter has also served as chairman of IAHSA's European Committee, leading the efforts to establish a European Association of Homes and Services for the Ageing.
In his new role, Mr Tranter will help guide IAHSA's efforts to connect and support care and service providers worldwide to enhance the quality of life for the ageing. The IAHSA board is multi-national in composition, including representatives from Australia, the UK, the Netherlands, Singapore, Israel, Hong Kong and the US.
IAHSA (www.iahsa.net) is the only global network of aged care providers, representing the interests of more than 20,000 ageing services providers in 35 countries, serving almost five million elderly every day.
IAHSA serves as an international forum for shared learning and is active in research focusing on innovations in care technology and solutions to the long-term care workforce crisis. IAHSA is accredited as a non-governmental organisation with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.
