Bank of Valletta is supporting a conference organised by the Malta Association of Credit Management (MACM) with the Chamber of Advocates, entitled 'The legal implications of effective interest charging'.
The conference will be held on Friday from 12.45 to 5.30 p.m. at the Corinthia Palace Hotel, Attard.
The event will focus on risk assessment and interest charging, banking interest, the EU directive to combat late payment in commercial transactions (2000/35/EU), as well as consumer credit regulations.
The conference will be inaugurated by Finance Minister Tonio Fenech and will also be addressed by Dr Michael Borg Costanzi, Chief Officer, Legal and Compliance at BoV, and Alfred Buhagiar, head Corporate Finance Relationships, who will explain the concept of interest from a banking perspective.
Dr Larry Coltman will explain how to assess risk and charge interest, Dr Theresienne Bezzina will discuss consumer credit regulations, and Dr Peter Fenech will address the EU directive to combat late payment in commercial transactions.
The conference is a source of knowledge for professionals who work in the field of credit management, legal advice and law, as well as the Maltese business community at large. Academics, such as ICM students and students of business, commerce and law, will also benefit.
